Close to 25,000 Experiencing Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Storms
Nearly 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast found themselves without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, bringing wind gusts reaching 109km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Broad Destruction
Homeowners observed giant hailstones measuring up to 7 centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams activated to manage the widespread outages.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 households in the southern state also experienced electricity disruptions after the capital city experienced its most precipitation in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services received over five hundred emergency reports across the area, primarily for structural issues but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

- The Werribee area - saw substantial destruction
- Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous rescue reports
- Wyndham region - over 175 help reports
During the peak on Sunday, more than 28k electricity consumers in the state were lacking electricity.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing storm activity expected across different parts of both regions.
Health Warning
Public health experts cautioned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
This warning comes after historical occurrences where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the region.
