In late 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly Donald Trump's chief strategist, was in the UK to deliver a speech at the Oxford Union.

The event was disrupted by numerous demonstrators, and Bannon, scheduled to board a flight that evening, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Protesters slowed down my talk I doubt I can make the plane we r enroute to the airport".

Epstein responded: "There. Is a gulf air that leaves at 9:50 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "U r an amazing assistant".

These exchanges were published on this week alongside more than 20,000 pages from the records of Epstein, the late financier convicted of sex crimes.

The release by the Congressional committee contains an iMessage chat where Bannon's name is withheld. The BBC has been able to establish his involvement by matching the dates, events, and places mentioned.

For example, Epstein discusses chartering a jet from Scotland for the unnamed individual in the chat, and commends their "Oxford speech". Bannon participated in the Edinburgh conference on 14 November, and delivered the speech at the Oxford Union on November 16.

Bannon, who is not accused of any misconduct, did not reply on the inquiry.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon served as the president's closest advisers in the run up to the presidential election and during the initial phase of his first administration, but resigned from the administration in August 2017.

He has acknowledged he was producing a film about Epstein before his passing and allegedly has approximately 15 hours of footage. In a live taping of his podcast earlier this year, he stated: "We plan to publish the series, the five-part series, in the coming year - early next year."

But the newly released documents suggest Bannon's relationship with Epstein extended than being his biographer, with the convicted paedophile occasionally seeming to act like a aide.

A short time before the conversation in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein said: "how does it feel to have the most highly paid booking agent in history ".

Bannon expressed gratitude: "You are pretty good asst", to which Epstein responded "Therapies. Excluded".

Discussing a visit to "Abu Dhabi" in a separate text, Epstein assured Bannon: "I'll make sure you're taken care of."

UK Politics Discussed in Messages

The released messages also reveal Bannon and Epstein discussing British political matters in 2018.

On the day of his speech at the Oxford, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I became involved in the EU exit thing this day with Farage, Boris and Mogg."

Then, in what appears to be a allusion to the UK prime minister, the embattled UK prime minister at the time, he added: "The guys are trying to move on. May soon…"

Epstein advised Bannon: "In my view remaining as much as you can in the UK. Best-- so people see the commitment of your follow-up."

Soon after, Epstein asked: "Can Theresa May remain in power". Bannon replied: "I don't see how however the guys here have little courage" and added "Johnson ; Michael Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; David Davis - somebody has to take charge".

Theresa May was eventually toppled in 2019 after surviving two votes of no confidence in December 2018.

A spokesman for the political party informed media: "Nigel Farage has never been in a meeting with Bannon, Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest such a meeting took place.

The US House of Representatives will decide soon on whether the Department of Justice should make public all its files concerning its probe into Epstein, who died in jail in that year.

Interest in Epstein's associations with influential individuals was renewed recently after the release of more than 20,000 pages from his estate.
